{"id":152,"date":"2014-05-15T11:50:18","date_gmt":"2014-05-15T17:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.pavq.com\/?p=152"},"modified":"2014-05-15T11:50:18","modified_gmt":"2014-05-15T17:50:18","slug":"infamous-text","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.pavq.com\/?p=152","title":{"rendered":"Infamous Text"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, from the beginning, Vector has had some textual issues.<\/p>\n<p>On the original car (remember, this is the 1.1 version, with a different body shell) the inscription &#8220;Liebe \u00fcber Leben&#8221; was cut into the sheet metal of the right rear quarterpanel. Unfortunately, that phrase doesn&#8217;t really mean anything. (Well, ok, it means &#8220;Love of life&#8221;, which I don&#8217;t think is what Kurt was going for.) He said to me at one point he&#8217;d meant for it to say &#8220;Liebe \u00fcber Lebens&#8221;. Which also isn&#8217;t correct. (&#8220;Love about life&#8221;.) I think he wanted it to say &#8220;Love above life&#8221;, as in &#8220;Love is more valuable than one&#8217;s life&#8221;, which would be &#8220;Liebe \u00fcber das Leben&#8221;, or possibly &#8220;Liebe vor dem Leben&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Even more unfortunately, on the 1.1 car, the inscription was rendered as &#8220;Liebe \u00fcber Legens&#8221;. Which means, uh, &#8220;Put love on&#8221;.\u00a0 As in, like socks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/infamous_text.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-93\" src=\"http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/infamous_text-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"infamous_text\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/infamous_text-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/infamous_text-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/infamous_text.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, I made a template of the shape of the sheet metal there, and I&#8217;m going to cut out the original, weld in new material, and try again. Another piece of information I have from Kurt: Vector isn&#8217;t\u00a0<em>Mad Max<\/em>.\u00a0 The inspiration for the notebook of sketches from which Vector was constructed was the Resistance technicals in <em>Terminator<\/em>.\u00a0 (The first <em>Terminator<\/em> movie, obviously.)\u00a0 So for a long time, I&#8217;ve been thinking of replacing the inscription with something more <em>Terminator<\/em> related.\u00a0 My first thought was the phrase &#8220;No Fate But What We Make&#8221; or possibly just &#8220;No Fate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>And then I did this to Tensor:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tensor_zombies.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-139\" src=\"http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tensor_zombies-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"tensor_zombies\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tensor_zombies-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tensor_zombies-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/pavq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/tensor_zombies.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And now I&#8217;m contemplating &#8220;This Machine Kills Terminators&#8221;.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, from the beginning, Vector has had some textual issues.
